God, I hope it's not one of the seven on the list! They're all too implausible as a charismatic cult leader and someone obviously obsessed with Patrick Jayne. Also, we've lost all the references to the Blake poem. Red John has devolved somewhat into "some California serial killer" as Jayne put it in one episode when he asked why would the FBI be interested? Murderous cults might attract a little government and media attention. Profilers wouldn't be interested in this, college professors, 48 Hours?
I hope Bruno Heller isn't quite telling the truth about there being no more twists. We've been through so many unsatisfying ones, at least make the truth the "twistiest" of all.
Without looking at every episode, I somewhat doubt all the clues get planned out not knowing how long a show is going to run, the best theory I have and think is the most satisfying without making it Jayne or Lisbon and making the reruns unwatchable:
Patrick Jayne's wife.
Who else would have so much reason to be obsessed with him? And also, "Red John" made Patrick Jayne a good man. Patrick Jayne is a complex character, the wife he still wears a wedding ring for probably wasn't a simple uncomplicated person.
